Electrical Repairs in Boynton Beach, Cooper City, Delray Beach, Jupiter FL, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines

Licensed Electrician Working on Breaker Box in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, FL, West Palm Beach, Cooper City, Lake Worth, and Delray Beachar

Electrical repairs are not only necessary for the functionality of your home and appliances. Electrical repairs are also essential to the safety of all members of your household, especially children and pets.

As reported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 2,400 children receive emergency room treatment for electrical shock annually. Remember, children and pets are curious, unaware of danger and at times, mischievous. We want your house to be fully functional, but we also want our community and neighbors in all of South Florida to be safe. This includes some of our most heavy customer populated areas of Boynton Beach, Cooper City, Delray Beach, Jupiter FL, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines.

Here are a few tips we recommend beyond electrical repairs. Just as you would puppy proof your home or install childproof locks and gates, let us help you with any preventative devices.

  1. Cover all outlets. There are a couple of options for doing this. The first is the cheap inserts, however, we’ve seen children and chewing puppies pull these out. We recommend switching out the outlet covers for childproof ones or using outlet plugs that take adult strength and dexterity to push tabs to release.
  2. Keep appliances out of reach. Fans, toasters, coffee makers – anything can fall on your little one, burn or hit them. Cords can be a lot of fun to pull, fans can be curious to touch, curling irons look interesting to grab. We’ve even known parents who crawl at toddler height to make sure that all appliances and cords are fully out of reach.
  3. Consider replacing outlets with tamper-resistant receptacles. These specialty receptacles feature built-in safety shutters to block anything from being inserted. As this is a complete replacement of current outlets, we always recommend calling us to make sure these are installed correctly.
  4. Keep rooms with multiple electrical devices closed off. There are going to be some rooms that have too many devices that can be pulled down, cords that can be chewed and more. Rooms such as offices, entertainment and hobby “caves” or home theatres should have a latch located where it can only be accessed by adults.

We want to help keep you and your family safe. Remember to be proactive about your safety planning and call us immediately to schedule any electrical repairs throughout Boynton Beach, Cooper City, Delray Beach, Jupiter FL, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines.
